I have been planning to blog about Shoko London for a long time and now when she has finally released her fashion brand “S for Shoko” it felt like a perfect timing to write a few words about her!
Shoko London is a Japanese artist based in London and Tokyo. She is a lady of many talents: besides being an artist and illustrator who has made several collaborations with famous brands like Shiseido Shoko is also a singer, book author and a fashion designer. Among some other things!
I found out about Shoko and her work relatively short time ago but her great sense of style made me a fan right away. Especially her way to combine different colours in her outfits is something that I can`t stop admiring. Her style is girly, vintage inspired and she seems to prefer dreamy pastel colours but also more bold colours like red and navy blue (also the last two worn together!).
Seeing Shoko wearing red makes me also love red a lot, she does it so wonderfully! Somehow blonde haired Shoko wearing deep red and navy blue clothes makes me think about Brigitte Bardot or some other French lady from the 60s (1960`s actresses are apparently my weakness, lol)! I am getting obsessed about the idea of creating red + navy looks inspired by her but unfortunately my wardrobe still lacks of red pieces haha…
Shoko`s art style is a bit naivistic, cute, detailed and colourful. Her patterns and drawings are girly and lively and she seems to like using a little similar kind of colour scheme in both drawing and dressing up. Judging from her collaborations, singing career and London themed books she seems to be constantly working on several creative projects at the same time! I can`t help being impressed!
This summer Shoko also finally lauched her own clothing line “S for Shoko” that has already released two promising collections. I decided to write a small separate introduction post about her brand, you can find it here.
