After getting my RoseMarie seoir Happy Bag I was excited about trying to make a coordinate with some of the items I received. I came up with a simple outfit for spring featuring the beige sailor style coat, the velvet choker and the pom pom heels – my favourite things from the Happy Bag. Unfortunately it is still way too cold for clothes like these so I probably have to wait till April before I can actually wear this type of outfits outdoors. :’)

coordinate3_RoseMarieSeoir

To be realistic I doubt I´ll actually wear this coat together with the pom pom heels in real life since I feel the coat would look nicer paired up with some darker coloured shoes. Some other coloured clothes would probably flatter the heels better too!

I must admit that these pom pom heels are not the easiest to walk with, but then again I might be just clumsy hehe… The heels are super cute and I have been wanting shoes like them for a while but I have a feeling I might use them mostly for the outfit pictures and indoors to be practical. I am a little lazy with “difficult” shoes and besides I am often in a hurry: running while wearing these shoes isn´t probably the best idea heh!

My attempt to coordinate the coat with something somehow made me like it even more and now I feel I might have more use for it than I first thought. I look forward wearing it especially with classical marine/sailor themed colors such as red and navy blue! Hopefully I’ll manage to feature an outfit like that here on my blog too when spring comes. : )

Thanks for taking your time reading this blog post!

Ps. I wish I didn`t had to include the dark blue rug into the pictures and ruin the colour scheme, but the heels kind of disappeared into the floor without it… ^__^;

RoseMarie seoir Happy Bag 2017 review

RMS happy bag 2017

RoseMarie seoir fukubukuro 2017 promo picture

In the end of 2016 I ended up preordering my second lucky bag (or Happy Bag) ever! In early 2016 ordered my first fukubukuro from Japanese brand Katie and luckily I was quite satisfied with the things I received.

Originally I thought I would skip all the lucky bags this year but then I saw RoseMarie seoir`s lucky bag: a 21 600 yen (175€) Happy Bag including items worth about 60 000 yen (488€)! I have adored RoseMarie seoir`s items once in a while for a few years but some of them might be a little too sweet and cute for my personal style so somehow I never purchased anything.

This year the RMS`s Happy Bag seemed very tempting though: the Happy Bag was promised to even include a pair of shoes (worth about 15 000 yen) and you were able to request the design and colour you would like to get! Especially the idea about receiving a pair of my preferred shoes made the deal seem very appealing and at last I gave up to temptation and just ordered the fukubukuro.

A random and sneaky interior picture with the Happy Bag since it matches the rug I made recently hehe…

Because of the customs it took about three long weeks before I finally received my order and I was quite nervous. I knew that the bag should include a few pieces of clothing, some accessories or small goods and the requested shoes. Since everything by RoseMarie seoir is not 100% my style I was worried I´d receive something I didn`t like much or even worse: something a little too small for me (I am not too familiar with their sizing). I also got an impression that if the shoes you requested were out of stock they would replace them with the same design in different colour and I really hoped I could at least receive the shoes I liked – if everything else turned out to be a miss haha…

The RoseMarie seoir`s fukubukuro bag this year is super cute but the quality is not mind-blowing – apparently fukubukuro bags often tend to be made kind of cheaply. The bag looks nice in pictures and I like the design but the it is unlined and the material is some kind of synthetic fibre with toilet paper-like texture. The material seems quite strong though and the bag is relatively big.

My Happy Bag included:

♥ Sailor inspired trench style coat in beige

♥ 2 x Little Twin Stars & RoseMarie seoir collaboration plastic document holders

♥ Velvet choker with heart shaped “himitsu” charm in dark blue

♥ Sheer white tights with cat embroidery details

♥ “Bunny tail” choker in mint (the necklace with pom poms)

♥ Pair of pom pom heels in beige pink (the shoes I requested!)

The coat`s silhouette is a-line with flared hem.

Immediately when I opened the Happy bag I realized I had gotten a coat and unfortunately it was the only actual piece of clothings I received. I was relieved that the coat is cute though: the colour is classical beige and the sailor inspired details are nicely made and still kind of mature. The quality seems good to me although the material is 100% polyester. I am happy that the coat fits me and my style but the problem is that I was already planning to buy a classical beige trench coat this spring. This coat is close to one but still not exactly something I was thinking: would it feel silly to buy a similar coloured trench coat now?

When I saw the plastic document holders I was a little disappointed because I would rather had received some accessories. Funnily enough I have already started using them anyway so maybe they were something I actually needed haha…

The cat embroidery tights I got are cute but left me feeling very neutral and I don`t particularly look forward wearing them. Since I always wear a skirt or a dress I will likely still have some use for them when it gets warmer.

The necklaces I received are luckily nice and I especially like the velvet choker: I am often a little picky with any statements and texts written on clothes or accessories but luckily “himitsu” (meaning “secret” in Japanese haha) is still neutral enough for me.

The pom pom necklace named “bunny tail choker” is lovely too and I considered buying it in black or beige pink last summer. Unfortunately mint colour doesn`t match with my clothing too well but I could maybe imagine myself wearing the choker with black coordinates. Still I might consider selling or giving it to someone who likes to colour better. : )

The shoebox is so cute!

The pom pom heels are something I looked forward the most and I am really happy with them! They even came with extra heel caps which was a nice addition! However when I examined the shoes better I started to wonder how well they will last in use. The shoes have some nice details that are carefully made such as the golden “RoseMarie seoir” plates on the soles but as you can expect in the shoes like these many parts seem to be glued on. I am a little paranoid if the gluing will start coming off sooner or later but if so I hope that won`t happen too soon. (ㄒoㄒ)

The extra heel caps!

There is also one other thing that worries me a little: the toe area in these heels is lined with the same satin-like material as the outer parts and I was already able to spot a light stain there. It looks like the shoe has gotten some water on it and this must have happened already before I received them. Luckily when you wear the shoes (or don`t observe them too carefully) the stain is hardly noticeable but I especially in new products I personally find even minor faults like this a little disappointing. I am also afraid that the satin lined area under the toes will get nasty looking and dirty quite easily but then again these type of delicate shoes are probably often worn indoors only.

If you watch carefully you can see the light stain on the right.

In the end I have a little mixed feelings about this Happy Bag and the items I received. I didn`t hate anything but I must admit that I might had rather received for example a dress instead of the coat. The value of the coat is quite a lot, apparently around 34 000 yen so that is probably the reason why it was the only piece of clothing my Happy Bag included. I think that especially the accessories I received could had been nicer and I saw many girls getting a cute bag and even a wallet (besides other small goods/accessories) when they received a few a little cheaper pieces of clothing. Somehow it seems like the amount of the goods/accessories I received was quite small considering how modest they are, maybe the high value of the coat had an effect on that?

I tried my best to write this review pretty honestly and although I wasn`t 100% happy with the items I received I think the RoseMarie seoir Happy Bag deal was still pretty good this year for someone who likes their designs. Usually you have to pay about 20 000-27 000 yen for their onepiece only! I also spied the contents the others got on instagram and many seemed to receive very nice items like a onepiece besides a cute bag, some jewelry, a pair of frilly socks and the shoes they requested! ♥

It was exciting to try the RMS Happy Bag but next year I will probably consider carefully if I am willing to take the risk with the unknown contents again. ^__^ The sales after New Year are generally good anyway so it might be wiser to just buy the items you truly want or need.

What do you think: was this lucky bag a hit or miss? Did you try your luck with any fukubukuros this year? : )

Katie happy bag review

I have been curious about Japanese lucky bags aka fukubukuro for some years and this year I ended up ordering one for the very first time. Fukubukuros are basically mystery bags sold around New Year and they often include some left over items from the previous collection/s but many brands also produce special fukubukuro items just for their lucky bags. Sometimes the content of the lucky bag may be revealed beforehand, but often you will buy the bag without knowing what you will get exactly: that is part of the fun! In any case the lucky bag`s value is usually at least twice more than the price you pay so you have a great chance to get nice things for a lot cheaper price. Of course there is a risk that you will end up with things you don`t like or need, and this is one of the main reasons why I didn`t dare to try ordering one until now.

Already last year I considered grabbing a lucky bag from Katie the brand, but I missed the release time and apparently the bag sold out in 10 minutes, lol… So this year when I started to think about purchasing one I was already a lot wiser hehe!

Some possible happy bag items Katie revealed on their Twitter and blog.

Like most of the brands Katie announced the release date and time of the lucky bag beforehand on Twitter (they actually call it a “happy bag”). The bag was released around 5AM in my local time so I had an alarm to wake me up haha… This year they apparently had quite a many bags available since when I ordered mine the website told me there were still 99 bags in stock!

At the webstore there were actually two kinds of bags available: a 10800 yen (85€) bag and a cheaper 5800 yen (45€) bag that included only accessories. I decided to order the more expensive bag since I hoped to get some clothes too. For the ordering I used a package forwarding service Tenso. Before I received my order I actively stalked on instagram what other customers got hehe….

instagram-katiethestore

Some instagram pictures of the happy bag contents other customers got tagged with #katiethestore. The picture in the middle seems to have the same content I got but in different colours.

Like on the last year Katie`s happy bag consisted of pieces from their older collections. I noticed that the items of the bags also varied so all the bags didn`t include the same contents. I liked most of the things I saw but looking at the pictures made me a bit worried if I would end up getting some clothes in yellow because I know I wouldn`t have any use for them… The item I would had wanted the most was the black top with white frill collar but for some reason the other items that appeared next to it on the haul pictures were not to my taste that much.

What my happy bag included:

FUKUBUKURO_KATIE2 copy

I got a grey long sleeve top, lilac lacy bloomers shorts, a large frill tote bag, a white fluffy cap, a badge and a hair clip (not in picture).

FUKUBUKURO_KATIE1

I was relieved that all the things I got came in colours I like and I actually thought everything looked cute. Well, except a hair clip I also got: the clip had some fake fruits on and a gingham ribbon on it that totally reminded me of some Christmas decoration. I ended up leaving that out of my photos…. :’ ) But overall I was quite happy with my haul! The total value of the items I got was also better than I expected: over 40 000 yen (310€).

The pieces I got are something I wouldn`t had likely bought myself but luckily they are still cute and I have some use for them. I think will wear them with black and other darker colours since even though I like how light pastel colours look I feel more comfortable when I am not wearing pastels from head to toe. When I tried to wear the top and the shorts at the same time the combination reminded me of some kind of pyjama set for some reason haha. :’D

Here are still some stock pictures I managed to find of the items I got (minus the hair clip again):

What do you think about lucky bags? : ) Have you ever purchased one?
