Red and velvet for the October girl

Hi there little foxes, I hope autumn is treating you well!

I am still trying to get used to cooler weather and learn to dress up warmly again: I think we can expect the first snow quite soon here in Finland, huh! Luckily I have managed to get a few new additions to my A/W wardrobe which has helped to make dressing up more a little more fun for me.

This look reflects some of my autumn inspirations pretty well and I was also highly influenced by Anna Karina’s look in the film “Une femme est une femme”. I still hope to properly re-create some of her looks from the film in future! Before that I want to do some preparations like find some blue eye shadow, hehe…

Lately I am very much in love with big hairbows and I almost feel like they could become a part of my own “signature look” (to be honest I don`t think I have one quite yet hehe…). Many iconic actresses and models “in the old times” seemed to have some kind of signature style and browsing their pictures makes me think how big role for example their hairstyle played. When thinking about a certain iconic actress or model such as Marilyn Monroe or Twiggy you can immediately remember their signature hair!

I find this fascinating since these days it seems to be more common that celebritites keep changing their hair and style constantly: having the same look for longer periods could be even considered just boring!

My bangs would had needed a little combing I guess haha….

I have personally had bangs (or fringe) for about 10 years now although my hair colour and style otherwise has varied. Always when I consider growing my bangs out all I have to see is one cute girl with bangs and I already change my mind. I am just hopelessly in love with bangs I guess? ; )

Do you have a signature hairstyle? If not but you had to choose one, how would it be?

Style adoration: Shoko London

Red seems to be Shoko`s signature colour! Her dress reminds me of me of Anna Karina.

I have been planning to blog about Shoko London for a long time and now when she has finally released her fashion brand “S for Shoko” it felt like a perfect timing to write a few words about her!

Shoko

Shoko London is a Japanese artist based in London and Tokyo. She is a lady of many talents: besides being an artist and illustrator who has made several collaborations with famous brands like Shiseido Shoko is also a singer, book author and a fashion designer. Among some other things!

I found out about Shoko and her work relatively short time ago but her great sense of style made me a fan right away. Especially her way to combine different colours in her outfits is something that I can`t stop admiring. Her style is girly, vintage inspired and she seems to prefer dreamy pastel colours but also more bold colours like red and navy blue (also the last two worn together!).

shoko_redsailorSeeing Shoko wearing red makes me also love red a lot, she does it so wonderfully! Somehow blonde haired Shoko wearing deep red and navy blue clothes makes me think about Brigitte Bardot or some other French lady from the 60s (1960`s actresses are apparently my weakness, lol)! I am getting obsessed about the idea of creating red + navy looks inspired by her but unfortunately my wardrobe still lacks of red pieces haha…

I feel a sudden need for a red beret and tights… Eep!

Her art

Shoko`s art style is a bit naivistic, cute, detailed and colourful. Her patterns and drawings are girly and lively and she seems to like using a little similar kind of colour scheme in both drawing and dressing up. Judging from her collaborations, singing career and London themed books she seems to be constantly working on several creative projects at the same time! I can`t help being impressed!

Shoko has also done a collaboration collection with French brand Manoush

Pink, girly and cute!

This summer Shoko also finally lauched her own clothing line “S for Shoko” that has already released two promising collections. I decided to write a small separate introduction post about her brand, you can find it here.
